Knowing Who You Are...

Knowing Who You Are

I have of late realized that in reading and studying the Word of God, we can become so symbolic in our approach, because of all the types and shadows we see. It is almost as if reality has been exchanged with type and shadow in the quest to understand reality. Even that sounds confusing. We hear different verses in the Bible to comfort us. Verses like, “nothing can snatch me out of the hands of the Father”. We say we are in His hands, but it is almost symbolic. And yet, this same God that holds you in His hands, holds the earth in the span of His fingers. As another verse that we somehow see as symbolic to God being in control. We hear that we are the temple of God, and we see and read about the types and shadow of this in the tabernacle that Moses built in the desert, and the temple of Solomon. We know that the outer court is symbolic of our bodies, the inner court being our soul and the holy of holies our heart. And yet, in spite of this type and shadow, I realize that we do not quite enter into that reality, in spite of our confession.

We tend to equate truth and knowledge as the same, but truth is reality, and reality is known by revelation.

Learning so much in the Word, and being the truth, one would expect these truths to radically change and set us free. And yet, here we are. Not changed. Why is this? Why is it that we can hear the truth and not be changed, even as believers? Jesus said that He came to give sight to those who are blind. This is not just physically, but spiritually. We are a spirit, who has a soul and live in a body. We are not humans, who is a body, that have a soul and spirit. First and foremost, we are spirit. And the Word says that God is Spirit. The Word also says that they who are in Christ is one spirit with Him.

So upon contemplating this, I realized that in Paul’s writings he often mentioned mysteries. The amazing thing is that every time he did mention a mystery, he would either before or after that word “mystery” give the explanation for it. What is the definition of mystery? The dictionary describes it as follows:

“Anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown: the mysteries of nature. any affair, thing, or person that presents features or qualities so obscure as to arouse curiosity or speculation: The masked guest is an absolute mystery to everyone.”

Telling us …it is unexplained. However, this is not true in the Word, for Paul explains the mysteries. So how come we are not changed?

Ephesians 1: 17 – 23 we read the following:

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

This is also the scripture that forms the bedrock or foundation of my website. For us to understand and grasp the enormity of what Christ has done in and for us, we need the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. The Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. He is the great revealer. When you have a wedding, the veil of the Bride is removed in order to reveal her. In the same way, the word speaks of the veil of our understanding that needs to be removed. We often think that the Word is veiled, but the reality is that we are the ones that are veiled. Our understanding has to be enlightened. And this is where the crux of the matter lies. It does not matter how much truth you receive, what matters is the Holy Spirit revealing it to you. Only then, can you enter into the depth of the understanding - by revelation. Which makes perfect sense when we read Proverbs 3 saying that we are not to lean on our own understanding.

The Bible is a very practical book, but first and foremost, it is a spiritual book, inspired by the Spirit, penned by men like you and me. And yet, it has eternal value. This is the evidence of its spiritual nature, apart from the accuracy through the ages. The Word of God is eternal because the Author of the Word is His eternal Spirit. I guess what one can take from what I am writing is that we need to understand by revelation. That the setting free, comes with truth, but truth revealed. And if there is an area in your life that you have dealt with for years and still find yourself bound, the chances are good that you may understand it from a logical perspective, but yet fail to have received the revelation.

Many years ago I dreamed that I received three keys. Never quiet understanding what those keys are. But yesterday, I received one of them. The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. Am I boasting? Not at all. Are we not to expect to receive an answer to our prayers? If anything I am boasting in Christ.  Are we then not to pray Paul’s prayers over our lives? Of course we are. But here’s the thing. Having received the key, it is up to me to use it. Keys open doors. And it closes doors. My first reaction to my dream many years ago, was that those keys resembled authority. And though it is true, it is only partly true, because in my dream, I specifically had three keys. I do not think this was symbolic. I think it was literal. Remember, we are spirit. So even though my dream was a story unfolding, the message was “I am giving you three keys”. I have a choice. Do I look at this as symbolic or literal? Do we have literal authority or symbolic authority? Literal. So it stands to reason that in the spirit we have literal keys. But here in lies our problem, we know we have literal authority, but somehow think we do not have literal keys. Both cannot be seen, but we only believe the one. Get my point?

Paul said to the Corinthians, why do you walk as mere men? What did he mean by that? He was implying that they were not walking in the truth of who they are in Christ. I have a key now, but this key I desired and prayed for. Never expecting to receive it literally. Remember, I am spirit. We are so conformed to this world. This is why Romans 12: 1 says that we must be renewed in the spirit of our mind. The spirit is reality and the matrix is not. The Word says only that which is spirit is eternal. This world is passing away, therefore we should place emphasis on the reality that we are not human beings, but actually spirit beings.

This also is why we can only please our Father by faith. Living by faith,is living by the spirit through the Spirit of God.  Living in this matrix we are conditioned to live by sight and often programmed by what we see, touch, hear and smell. We live from the outside in. We live from how we perceive our surroundings. But there is a mystery that Paul speaks of that formed the very nexus of his ministry to the Body. The mystery of Christ in me! And yet, here we are subjected to the matrix we live in, having to have to make a living and still be in the world, although not part of the world. In a sense we are living two realities. And unfortunately for us, the physical reality is more real that the spiritual. If it was not the case, would not our lives be radically different?

Every now and then, my posts will be with regard to this mystery He has revealed to me by His Spirit. And even though I knew it all these years by my human logic and understanding, revelation has finally come and I am forever changed. I want to share this mystery with you, but know that in the end, He will have to write through me and allow the revelation of what He shows me to be penned in such a way, that the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened, not by my writing, but by the key He has given, the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. What a privilege. I am not the first, I won’t be the last. There is no coincidence for you being on this website. God brought you here. There is no doubt about that. We are all born for such a time as this.

So for now, know that there is so much more the Father wants to reveal to you and that Paul’s prayer of Ephesians 1: 17 – 23, should be yours. Asking for the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Him, until you receive it. He is the Truth that sets free. As per the word He gave me yesterday, I can only say that He is the Keeper of His storehouse, filled with treasures. And as our Father, all He desires is that we would come to Him and ask by faith. Knowing that we will only understand by revelation and that we now operate by faith. Not by our senses. We live now from the inside to the outside. This is the challenge and the Christian walk. His desire is that we would open the greatest treasure chest of all, the Word, and allow the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to open up the treasures He gives to those who ask by faith. To learn to wait on Him until our blind eyes see the mystery. The great mysteries of God. A life yet still unlived because we are still spiritually veiled in so many areas.

May we pursue Him in this quest for this very important key He wants to give all His children, for there is no partiality in Christ. He wants to give it to you. So that you may open the door and enter in. That you no longer walk as a mere man, but walk in the spirit, controlled by His Spirit.

John 3: 1 - 12

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

John 16:12-14

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
