Pearls of Great Price

Quotes, Songs, Prayers and Poems

                                         Matthew 13: 45 - 46

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had,
and bought it.

The same people who will dismiss God rudely, are the same who will envoke Him lightly.
- Art Katz

"WHEN ALL MY ENDEAVOUR IS TURNED TOWARD THEE BECAUSE ALL THY ENDEAVOUR IS TURNED TOWARD ME; WHEN I LOOK UNTO THEE ALONE WITH ALL MY ATTENTION, NOR EVER TURN ASIDE THE EYES OF MY MIND, BECAUSE THOU DOST ENFOLD ME WITH THY CONSTANT REGARD; WHO ART LOVE'S SELF HAST TURNED THEE TOWARD ME ALONE.  AND WHAT LORD, IS MY LIFE, SAVE THAT EMBRACE WHEREIN THY DELIGHTSOME SWEETNESS DOTH SO LOVINGLY ENFOLD ME? "
- Nicolas of Cusa

The heavens declare Thy glory, Lord,
 In every star Thy wisdom shines;
But when our eyes behold Thy Word, We read Thy name in fairer lines.
Isaac Watts

…He giveth more grace…

James 4:6

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.1

TO BE FREE IS TO WANT AND DESIRE NOTHING BUT ONLY HIS LOVE, HIS WORDS, HIS COMFORT, HIS WILL AND TO HAVE THAT CALL ANSWERED. THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE TRULY FREE.

"I appreciate silence, because I appreciate words."

- Arthur Katz

When your weaknesses rise up before you, when you would weep over some error in judgment, or some unguarded expression, do as the little child, who having fallen into the mud, carries its hands to its mother, who cheerfully wipes them, and consoles him after the fall. Can you not believe God loves you, as much as you love the little one enfolded in your arms? Does he not say, "A mother may forget, yet I will never forget thee!"

- Madam Guyon (Letters of Madam Guyon)

There is no true identification with the Body of Christ without  a true identification with the cross.  To know Him, the Suffering Servant, the Lamb that was slain.

Among the gifts of the Spirit scarcely is one of greater practical usefulness than the gift of discernment.

This gift should be highly valued and frankly sought as being almost indispensible in these critical times. This gift will enable us to distinguish the chaff from the wheat and to divide the manifestations of the flesh from the operations of the Spirit.
- A. W. Tozer

"The Church is the organ which cannot but speak and praise when the Master's silent touch on the keys sets free it soul.

P. T. Forsyth, The Cruciality of The Cross

ABIDE IN ME

As the river of life from your side
Where you have made a place to abide
Let this river flow from the tree
That all that drink may be set free

Let it bring comfort to those who mourn
To those who sit in darkness, torn
That they may sing a new song
To the One to whom they belong

Let hope arise within their midst
Resting assured that You will lift
Every burden, every weight, and every sigh
As they drink from the river
poured from Thy side

Abide, abide, abide in Me
Is still the place to be set free
Abide, abide, abide in Me
Peace... Be still.
Stay with Me
Abide, abide, abide in Me
